These images are a selection of portraits of survivors of the Nazi Holocaust, taken by the voluntary project Portraits for Posterity. The project photographed more than 80 survivors during 2008 and 2009 to create a gallery of images, which will feature in exhibitions in Brighton, London and Manchester to mark Holocaust Memorial Day on 27 January 2010. www.portraitsforposterity.com

Rudi Oppenheimer was born in 1931, lived in Amsterdam and in 1943 was sent with his family to the transit camp Westerborg,

In 1944 the family was deported to Bergen-Belsen. His parents died in 1945, but he survived with his siblings and arrived in London in 1945.

He worked as an engineer for Shell, designing, building and maintaining power stations, and is retired.
